Go green and offset your LCA2016 carbon footprint!

You now have the option to reduce your carbon footprint for 2016 at registration. Fifteen Trees will organise the planting of one tree for every registration that we receive. The trees are indigenous to the Geelong district and will be planted by local environmental groups. For an additional cost of $5.00 (payable during registration), one tree will be planted on your behalf.

Once planted, updates will be posted both on the Fifteen Trees website and various LA and LCA mailing lists.

Why trees?

Planting trees benefits the environment in many ways. Trees absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, provide native wildlife with habitat, create green corridors, improve biodiversity and help reverse the effects of erosion and rising water tables, preventing soil salinity.

Where will the trees come from?

The trees are purchased from local nurseries that specialise in native tube stock. All trees planted are endemic to their area.

Who will plant the trees?

Fifteen Trees will purchase and distribute native trees to Landcare and community groups in the district. They may also be distributed to universities, schools and landowners to plant on public and private land.

Once the trees have been planted, delegates will have the opportunity to view the trees via the blog on the Fifteen Trees website. The community groups who plant the trees send in photos and comments which are then updated onto the blog pages.
